The Youth Activities Committee is overseen by the Board of Trustees of Adath Emanu-El and is subject to the following guidelines:

I. Membership
A. Membership is open to all Jewish children within the set age/grade requirements set for each group. AEFTY shall be open to those children in public or religious school grades 9-12. AEFTY-JR shall be open to those children in public or religious school grades 7-8.

II. Attendance
A. Attendance at youth group events is open to all paid members of the youth group.
B. Events may be open to Jewish children who are not members of the youth group at the discretion of the youth group advisor with approval of the Youth Activities Committee. There will be an established non-member cost which will be higher than the cost to a paid member and this will be advertised in the event publicity.
C. Each youth group member may bring one non-Jewish friend to  one event (which is not a sleep over or the final event) each year. The youth group member must have the advisor's permission in advance of this event. (Extenuating circumstances will be managed on individual basis by the advisor and youth activities trustee )

III. Code of Conduct
A. Each member or approved non-member attending an event shall have a completed and signed permission slip returned to the advisor prior to the event.
B. Each member will adhere to the code of conduct at any event or youth group sanctioned function. Failure to do so, may result in expulsion from the event or program.

IV. Chaperones
A. Chaperones will be required for all youth group events based on the event, number of participants and transportation requirements. The number of chaperones should not be less than 1 to 10 event participants.
B. Event prices for chaperones shall not exceed the following: chaperones requested to attend an event and are driving to the event will pay half the total cost of the event (if participating). Chaperones attending (ie. spouse) that are not essential, will pay full price of the event. Chaperone costs may be lowered for events that are overnight, weekends or other circumstances; to be determined by the advisor with approval from the Youth Activities Committee.
C. Chaperones will not bring younger children to events without permission of the youth advisor and Youth Activities Committee.
D. All chaperones will be parents of youth group participants. Any other chaperones will be approved by the Youth Activities Committee prior to the event.
E. Youth group participants under the age of 12 shall not be permitted to sit in the front seat of a chaperone's vehicle. Each youth group participant shall have a functioning seat belt in the chaperone's car.

AEFTY is a member of the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) and NFTY/PAR.
